In response to the findings of the State Government’s Skills Formation Taskforce in 2006, the WA Department of Education and Training commissioned Huntly Consulting Group to examine the potential to simplify and streamline the administration of the State’s apprenticeship and traineeship system.

The consultancy culminating in a series of far-reaching recommendations designed to transform the system along the lines of a modern, efficient and flexible business and service model. The research methodology involved structured interview consultations with 170 employers and apprentices/trainees throughout Western Australia, modelling of process flows and the recommendation of a range of administrative reforms designed to make apprenticeships and traineeships more attractive to employers and prospective apprentices and trainees.
